The vineyard got another pruning the other day.
The last time it was done, at the beginning of June, the main focus was just trimming up the long canes. This time, the canes were pruned again, but it was also important to remove any leaves that were shading the grapes from the sun.
The leaf-clipping goes so fast, it’s hard to get a good photo! The vineyard guys are masters at their craft.
This should be the last pruning before harvest. It’s been a hot summer so far – very unlike last year – which is good. The grapes are loving the hot weather and non-stop sunshine, and so far Trueheart Vineyard’s Petite Sirah 2012 vintage is shaping up well!
Oh, and by the way, the lavender is so beautiful this time of year!
